Kenyon College (Languages and Lit.)
Hi! I am excited to help you learn.
As a passionate learner of languages myself, I know how great a feeling it is to succeed in learning a second language. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Literatures from Kenyon College. While studying both Russian and French, I gained experience teaching these languages to college students. I also garnered experience teaching English to younger learners, spending a summer living and volunteering at a orphanage in Siberia. After graduating, I spent a year teaching English abroad (ESL/EFL) in Morocco. I am TESOL/TESL/TEFL certified and have experience teaching English to students of all different ages and proficiency levels.
I hope to hear from you soon! Hi! I am excited to help you learn.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I majored in modern languages and literatures with a focus in Russian language. I taught Russian as an Apprentice Teacher of Russian for two semesters as part of Kenyon College's intensive language program. My teaching techniques include target language immersion, and incorporate games, cultural activities, and group/individual "backward sentence build-up drills," useful in teaching a language that has a different syntax than English, among many other exercises.
While in college, I also studied abroad for one semester, taking courses entirely taught in Russian. I also spent six weeks teaching English in Siberia, which required proficiency in Russian in order to live there.
