Columbia University (Psychology)
New England Conservatory (Master's)
Hello! I am a professional cellist and just moved back to New York after studying in Boston for the past 3 years. I am a graduate of Columbia University, the Juilliard School, and the New England Conservatory of Music: B.A. from Columbia, M.M from NEC, and B.M. diploma certificate from Juilliard. During my undergraduate studies, I was in the prestigious Columbia-Juilliard exchange, which allowed me to pursue my musical studies at Juilliard while being a full-time student at Columbia. I majored in psychology but took 30 classes in other subjects, with particular interest in English, literature, art history, and philosophy. I love math and have been obsessed with numbers my whole life. Music is my biggest passion (I have been playing cello for 19 years), but I have always loved learning about almost anything. At Columbia, I studied with truly brilliant professors and alongside exceptionally smart and talented classmates. The workload was rigorous and the standard of learning was second to none, which taught me how to be a curious and productive student.
As an academic tutor, I try to tailor to each student's needs. I understand and know which qualities and types of methods one needs in order to be an efficient and successful student but also recognize that certain issues need to be approached from many angles. I believe that persistence and hard work are crucial for success, but I also know, from first-hand experience, that any student can really benefit from some personalized guidance and extra help.
I love to tutor a wide variety of academic subjects, so if you think I could be of help to you, please contact me! Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
