Struggling with test prep or high school courses? I can help.
I have almost a decade of experience in helping students achieve their personal best on standardized tests. I scored 800s on the Math and Reading sections of the SAT, and I have worked as a research assistant at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I have a BA in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland's prestigious honors program, from which I received a full merit scholarship.
I started tutoring SAT for my high school in 2005, shortly after I took the test myself. I tutored part-time throughout college, and have been tutoring full-time since 2012. Since then, I've branched out into similar subject areas such as ACT, GRE and SSAT. I love that my job allows me to help kids succeed. It's truly fulfilling to hear back from parents when their children get accepted into the schools of their choice. Struggling with test prep or high school courses? I can help.

Adam has been wonderful working with my 17 year old son on SAT prep as well as summer math work. He has been on time, patient, and they are making a great connection that I know will continue into the school year. It is great to have him to help with the challenges of senior year as the work gets harder. It never hurts to have a smart young man as a mentor to a teenager.
Adam was really great with my middle aged school boys in SSAT prep. He was always punctual, well prepared and knew his stuff. He also had a really nice touch with keeping two boys focused and engaged with the review material. We would use him again and I highly recommend him.
Adam was excellent in prepping my son for the SSAT. He tutored him weekly for about 7 weeks and his progress was notable and better than expected. He ended up with a superb score on the SSAT on the first try; I am sure that Adam's involvement was a large part of his success. I would recommend Adam to anyone looking for an excellent tutor for their son or daughter!!
My 8th grader has been working with Adam for 8 weeks to prepare for several high school placement tests. Adam clearly and patiently explains the material, and he helps my son understand when he gets the wrong answers without making him feel anxious or incapable. My son is always very engaged and looks forward to his meetings with Adam. This process has also helped my son to identify and close some gaps in his knowledge and skills, and I believe it will contribute to building his self-confidence.
Doesn't overwhelm my son with homework or test taking. Addresses questions about problems immediately and then gives practice ones to make sure my son understands the process.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
