Cornell University (Film Studies)
Hello there everyone. My name is Matthew. I am a Freelance filmmaker with a Bachelors Degree in Film Studies from Cornell University. I have written, shot, and produced several short films independently, and have worked as a Producer, Cinematographer, and Assistant Director for companies like Le Pain Quotidien, and Manhattan GMAT in NYC. I am very passionate and knowledgeable about all technical aspects of filmmaking, and am extremely proficient in camera work, and post-production applications.
I have instructed others during shoots, and in more traditional private tutoring sessions. If you need instruction on editing applications such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or Adobe After Effects, I can provide that service. Also if you want to get familiar with shooting on DSLR cameras, or more traditional Pro-Video cameras I am happy to instruct you on that as well.
I am very open to working with students of any age or skill level, and am perfectly fine with traveling to a location most convenient for you. I like to provide a comfortable, low-stress atmosphere and encourage students to move at their own pace. I know that people can be particularly intimidated and challenged by technology, but I believe that everyone is capable of developing a working knowledge that will help them to achieve their desired level of proficiency.
I'm really looking forward to working with you, so please feel free to contact me anytime for more details. Hello there everyone. My name is Matthew. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned a B.A. in Film Studies from Cornell University, a major which included both practical and theoretical instruction. I have been working as a freelance Video Producer since 2010, and have advanced skills in DSLR/pro-video camera operation, as well as post production editing and graphics applications. In the past, I worked for a post production house, and also produced internal training videos for the international restaurant chain Le Pain Quotidien. I have also written, shot, produced, and edited several independent short films.
My tutoring experience includes private instruction for editing and camera operation.
I took several production courses at Cornell University while pursuing a BA in film studies including cinematography, and advanced filmmaking. I have worked on several films in various capacities, and have produced, shot, written, directed, and edited my own independent projects. I have worked freelance as a video producer for several companies. I have also worked in post-production for TV series "Great Decisions," as well as for the post-house cutting room films.
