I am a native speaker of Russian, originally from St. Petersburg, an independent scholar and a published award-winning poet with 15 years of Russian Language and Culture teaching experience in the United States. I studied philology at the Gertsen Pedagogical University, St.Petersburg and the University of Washington, Seattle. I hold a PH.D in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Washington (2005), where I also taught all levels of Russian language and culture for 8 years. Subsequently I taught culture and language classes at Bellevue Community College and at the Seattle Language Academy. I also have an extensive experience in private teaching. I have taught American native speakers and Russian heritage speakers of all ages. As I teach, I use the most entertaining methodology and techniques, yet I offer a thorough and professional approach to language acquisition. My students learn in a fun and culturally enriched environment.
I have recently moved to New York from Seattle to embark on a full-time writing career, and I am looking for private students of Russian language, culture, and art to support myself as I write my new book. My classes are tailored to students' linguistic and cultural needs and goals taking in consideration their levels of language proficiency.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
