Bio

I am currently pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts in Finance from Harvard University. I graduated from Loyola University Maryland in May of 2017. Upon graduation, I transitioned to a front end Financial Analyst role at Morgan Stanley, but am putting a temporary pause on that career path to resume higher education in Finance at Harvard.

My passion for teaching has always come directly from my family. Living with a mother who is a teacher and two sisters who tutor as well, I have always witnessed a sense of pure satisfaction in their achievements from working with their students. Throughout schooling, my grandfather who was a math professor would teach me mathematics at the crack of dawn so I could obtain a head start in the fields of algebra, pre-calculus, etc. before I even reached school. Needless to say, these awakenings sharpened my math skills to a fine point, a point which helped me achieve a near perfect score in the ACT Math section and an 800 (or perfect score) in the SAT Math section.

It is relatively easy for me to connect to and understand my students compared to other tutors since there is less of an age gap. My schedule is extremely flexible; I am available for tutoring all days throughout the week (including weekends). The ultimate goal for myself here is to make sure that my students receive an extra boost of help. When I teach a student, I want to see them learn how to solve all sorts of problems related to that concept, not only the specific problem itself. This will help the student ace any exams, pop quizzes, and quizzes at any given time because the student will understand the core foundation of problem-solving via tutoring sessions. Overall, helping my students achieve superior scores will boost their confidence in not only math, but possibly other subjects of studies as well.

Got me into my Dream College!

As a High School student in desperate need of a Math/SAT tutor, Akshay was the perfect fit. I had experience with previous tutors who made material I needed to study more vigorous than needed, and I felt I was not learning as much as I could have. However this changed when I started learning from Akshay. He was a very patient and sociable tutor, and went with the pace you were most comfortable with. He explained tricky subjects in ways where it made most sense, and I felt more comfortable with my ability after each session. After several sessions, I was noticing a huge spike in my practice SAT scores, and when it came time to take the actual thing, my score increased by 200 points from the first attempt! Because of Akshay, I was admitted into my dream college and to this day retain the information I was taught. Thank you!
