About Jeremiah

My familiarity with a multitude of different children combined with my extensive tutoring experience, gives me the potential for success with whomever I lend my service to. My love for learning began at a very young age and has carried over into my adulthood, prompting my tutoring of students of various races, ethnicities and learning capabilities. My dedication, in addition to my experience, will allow me to meet and exceed all expectations. I believe that I can help provide students with the knowledge necessary to achieve their academic goals.
I spent 18 years with Specialized Learning Service, where I tutored children of the New York City Foster Care System. Mathematics and Language Arts were the areas in which I helped the students. My tutoring capabilities are also prevalent in multiple areas of science; I received my associates in science from Kingsborough community college. The last 12 years of my life were spent working at the NYC Department of Juvenile Justice; this can be seen as a tribute to the patience I developed while working with kids of all types. My job as a tutor is never turned off, my desire for academic success can be seen through my parenting as well as my profession. I have successful raised three academically strong children. They have all had a top of the line education, one of them has successfully completed college, one is in his freshman year of college, and the other is entering her junior year of high school. The same commitment that I have shown to my own children, is the commitment that I promise show to my students.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Regents

I believe that I am qualified to tutor this subject because for over ten years I have been tutoring student in math, reading and other academic disciplines. I have a degree in mathematics and I have taken some qualifying tests with WyzAnt which I believe can accommodate the regents.

SAT Math

I have tremendous love for mathematics and that is why I pursued it as my major in college. During my tutoring career, I helped a lot of students succeed in math. Every time a student succeeds in mathematics, it brings joy to my heart. If given the chance, I will help the student to succeed in math.

World History

While in high school and college, I developed special love for past and present world events. During many tutoring sessions, I engaged my students in discussions with global history. I encouraged them to use their knowledge on global stage. I taught my students the significance and the joy of knowing about other countries.

Writing

Even though I am a math major, I took English classes in college. These classes had to do writing term papers or research papers. In these courses, I was taught how to handle punctuation, pay attention to subject-verb agreement, avoid run-on sentences. I was taught how to write cohesive sentences and paragraphs. During my tutoring career, I continued to teach these things to my students.
