I have been teaching for eight years in the New York City public schools. In this time, I have been successful in teaching middle and high schools to become proficient in English. Additionally, I have tutored students in reading and TOEFL with an excellent success rate (100%). I hope to be able to use my hands on and innovative techniques to help you as well.
My teaching experience has including push-in, where I work collaboratively with one or two other teachers in order to bring needs of all students into the classroom, both in English and History, as well as a pull-out model, where I have a small group of students with whom I work to enhance their knowledge and focus in particular on one or two skills necessary to become proficient. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a semi-professional dancer for nearly five years. During that time, the group I was with performed Tango, Foxtrot, Two Step, and Waltz, among other forms of ballroom dance.
I excelled in the LSAT. Now I have completed law school. Currently, I am preparing for the Bar. As I prepare, I am teaching myself. I have also taken bar review courses, which is preparing me and giving me teaching methodologies which are fresh in my mind.
I enjoy cooking. For two years, I was the primary cook for my family, until I moved out on my own, at which point I would cook for myself. I frequently hosted dinner parties, and was even recommended to be a personal chef in the Hamptons for a summer.
I have taught elementary students in the summer for seven years. My training was at the elementary level. I have two master's degrees that are for k-12 licensure in NY.
I teach High School and am certified in the state of New York. In addition, I tutor after school three days a week, devoted to preparing students for the regents exam. Last year, I tutored a student who passed three regents exams on consecutive days (English, Global, and U.S. history) in order to graduate on time.
I majored in Russian for my undergraduate studies. Part of my program was to study in Russia. I stayed in St. Petersburg for six months with a Russian familiy.
I was a semi-professional dancer. Our dance troupe would travel and perform throughout New York State. Through this, I learned various forms of dance.
I have Special Education master's from Grand Canyon University. This degree was completed in 2007. Since then, I have taught students with special needs in the NYC public schools.
I teach English to high school students. A large part of the job is teaching the students how to study. My success leads me to the conclusion that I can tutor in this area.
I am a self taught player. After playing for my high school team, I went on to become captain of a league team.
