About Aaron

Hi, my name is Aaron, and I am a graduate of Brooklyn College with a major in Chemistry. My expertise and vast experiences are in Algebra (I and II), Elementary Math, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry I & II (especially the first semester). I myself, like many other students, have struggled with math and science during my years in grade school and had to resort to teaching myself in order to pass my classes. Hence I am fully aware of the frustrations involved in not grasping a subject as easily as you might wish. My experiences in Chemistry goes well beyond the classroom, as I was a Biochemistry Research Assistant for four years, so I can relay examples to you well beyond the scope of the textbook and classroom if it will help complement your understanding of the coursework.

My practical background and unique perspective has allowed me to help many students excel in areas of Math and Chemistry as they've found my instruction to be more insightful and holistic than what they’re learning in the classroom and textbooks.

My tutoring methods entail a straightforward approach to troubled topics or any other conceptual areas students aren't particularly comfortable understanding. I can also help curb an understanding of concepts more than just learn how to memorize terms and a set of rules.

Thank you in advance for the consideration and I look forward to helping you excel in your subject!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have tutored Algebra 1 and 2 to students ranging from Elementary School to College. I have a math heavy background as I've taken a variety of math courses so I am well versed in the language of mathematics. My methods involve the identification of concepts, understanding the concepts, and repetition of the techniques used to solve problems that utilize these concepts. Algebra, like many other math courses, can be excelled at and all of my students have accomplished this when receiving my instruction.

Chemistry

I am a graduate from Brooklyn College with a chemistry degree and therein lies my area of expertise. I have taken an array of chemistry courses and am well versed in all of them (especially General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry) so I can help students not only solve problems but gain a full understanding of the subject matter at hand. I have tutored chemistry throughout my time in college and beyond so I am well equipped with instructional experience. My experience extends to practical applications of the subject as I have worked as a Research Assistant in a Biochemistry Lab for four years so I can help students well beyond the scope of the classroom and textbook. The hands-on experience and the practical knowledge I can compliment to the classroom instruction will be invaluable to the student in their journey in learning Chemistry.

Elementary Math

I am most qualified to tutor in this subject because of my experience with elementary math as well as more advanced mathematical courses (Algebra, Pre-algebra, Calculus I,II,III). I was once myself in elementary school so I have experienced these hardships as well and have overcome them. I have tutored many students and helped them excel on their State Exams. Mathematics can seem be a different language to some students and with my instruction based on concept recognition and concept repetition, I can help any student excel at math.

Organic Chemistry

I have tutored organic chemistry since I've received my Chemistry degree from Brooklyn College. My tutoring methods are all mechanism based to avoid memorization which I believe is the most efficient way to remember organic chemistry. You will be able to learn organic chemistry by applying your knowledge of mechanisms and your knowledge of SN1 and SN2 rules. In my opinion, this is the simplest and sure way to be able to remember the topics long term and be able to carry it over to the 2nd organic chemistry course. After all, you learn the fundamentals of organic chemistry in the first part of the 2 semester course.

Brilliant, precise, patient, prepared, committed and an all around wonderful person and tutor.

Aaron tutored me for an intense, organic chemistry class. I knew very little about organic chemistry when I started tutoring with Aaron and I was truly dreading the experience. Aaron methodically went through examples of problems that I found challenging and helped me to master the work. I could not have gotten through this class without him. There were times I needed him to go over the same wor
