Susquehanna University (Communications)
New York University (Master's)
Originally from Baltimore, I moved to Brooklyn in 2010 to attend graduate school. In May 2012, I earned a MA in journalism from NYU. Prior to that, I attended Susquehanna University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in communications. Though my degree is in communications, I took extensive coursework in English, specifically 17th to 19th century British literature.
I have experience working with children from infancy through age 14. I have worked as a camp counselor and at a children's science museum. I come from a large family, including two sisters and countless cousins, so I am more than capable of not only getting through to a range of children, but of having some fun in the process.
I currently work as an assistant editor at a business-to-business publishing company in Manhattan. My daily duties include website editing, copyediting and designing and laying out magazine pages using Adobe InDesign CS6. I also have experience using Quark Xpress 9 and am well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, the Microsoft Office suite, and MLA and AP style.
I'm sure I can meet your tutoring needs, and I hope to work with you soon! Please don't hesitate to contact me for additional information or a resume. Thanks! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
