I graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Physics. One of the many things I discovered during my time at Vassar was my love for tutoring, especially in subjects that I'm invested in myself. During three years of my college experience I served as a tutor for introductory physics, leading hour-long review sessions twice a week ranging in size from 25 students down to one-on-one sessions.
I'd love to continue helping students with physics, and so I'm reaching out to find students who are interested in one-one-one help. From my experience as a tutor in college, one-on-one tutoring can be a truly rewarding supplement to learning in a classroom setting and it is often the place where students have confidence-boosting breakthroughs.
For years I've enjoyed explaining the tricky concepts of introductory-level physics. Physics is not my career, but it is one of my passions. Let me help you wrap your mind around it!

"Fantastic!" That is my 16-year-old daughter's comment about Daniel and her tutoring sessions with him in physics. Daniel's youthful excitement about the material, systematic breakdown, dissection and explanation of concepts, and discussion of parallel applications has empowered my daughter to grasp basic concepts and parlay her knowledge to solving more complex problems. The one-on-one experience with an exceptional tutor can make a monumental difference in a student's approach to a difficult subject. I encourage any parent to invest as much as they in a great tutor to bolster their student's academic and personal confidence.
Daniel has been our daughter's tutor for the past year, and we will forever be a smarter family. Our daughter is not going to be a physicist, and to boot, her Physics teacher at her high school, is an unengaged teacher/tyrant, the type of instructor who pushes students away from the subject, is always right, and punishes curiosity. Suffice to say, it was an uphill battle to simply engage her in a subject matter that had such an antagonistic beginning.
Daniel came to our home to tutor. He was engaged in the subject matter, and his enthusiasm for physics spread to our daughter. He was patient with her, understood the subject matter masterfully, and gave real life examples to keep the subject matter grounded and thus, more engaged into her world. His enthusiasm engaged her into formulas that can sometimes be theoretically elusive, and he was also able to look at the subject matter with an eye to missing holes her school teacher's curricula was missing. I highly recommend Daniel!
Daniel's energy and patience makes him an excellent physics tutor for my high school son. Before Daniel became his tutor, my son was barely passing physics and his grades were heading downward. After his first session with Daniel, the material became clear to him. After working with Daniel for one marking period my son's physics average went up 10 points. We have continued weekly tutoring sessions to keep my son on track. Daniel has helped him improve his poor organizational skills which were a roadblock in solving homework and test problems. My son and I both highly recommend Daniel to anyone who needs physics made clear. His patient, upbeat, dynamic nature make the physics sessions a great benefit to my son's education.
Daniel is a great teacher and has been very accommodating about coming over when needed, even on short notice. Thank you!
Daniel is an excellent tutor! I'm pretty nervous about this physics 2 class and he really helped my understand the material and feel more confident. I definitely recommend him!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have BA with Departmental Honors in Physics from Vassar College. During two years of college I worked for the physics department in a position similar to that of a TA, leading hour-long review sessions twice a week for introductory physics students and holding office hours. I then served as the Physics Department Academic Intern in which I tutored one-on-one 10 hours a week. I am now an Associate Teacher at a private school specializing in developing and teaching science curriculum to 2nd graders.
