BFA Parsons School of Design (Illustration)
Rhode Island School of Design Continuing Education (Graduate Coursework)
I am an experienced Art Instructor and Graphic Artist from Providence, Rhode Island. Earning a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design gave me a solid background in a wide range of artistic techniques and disciplines. I love teaching and tutoring is a great way to earn supplemental income while being able to share my passion for visual arts. I am committed to engaging students and providing a comfortable environment conducive to learning and self expression.
For 3 years I worked for United Cerebral Palsy of Rhode Island's award-winning Adaptive Arts Program. I taught adults with a variety of disabilities in both classroom and hospital settings. At some times I would be managing a large group project, such as a collaborative drawing and at others I would be working one on one with someone on a very personal piece. I am very patient and comfortable teaching ALL ages and levels of experience. As a result of working in a state hospital I am CPR certified, and have undergone extensive fire safety training, immunizations and background checks.
For my day job I work as a graphic artist in the fashion industry with a focus on surface design and packaging. I am an expert on creating CADs and repeat prints in both Photoshop and Illustrator. At least one program in Adobe Creative Suite is always open on my computer, performing a myriad of tasks. I have 10 years experience with the Creative Suite from CS2 to CS6. This includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Bridge. I am equally proficient with Mac and PC platforms. I can not only execute my task in these programs, but can articulate it to a student so they will be able to truly absorb the material and apply it on their own.
I will provide you with a write up of your lesson so you can review and practice on your own. Let me know what you would like to cover prior to the lesson, and what you know so far and I can create a lesson plan and prepare some files ahead of time.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
