Hi there, I am Faith, a State Certified School Counselor. I was a Substitute Teacher for the Board of Education for two years. Nowadays, I enjoy educating emerging/early learners from K-3 grade. I also work with adult students who need to improve their basic skills in order to perform better on their jobs. I enjoy teaching English, Reading, Proofreading, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Literature. It's important for me to begin working with students’ from their present educational level and gradually guide them to complete more difficult work.
One of my main goals is for students’ to become independent learners. As an educator, I believe it is necessary to help students learn how to learn. I explain the importance of self-monitoring, test preparation, and study skills. They will need to be aware of their academic strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, being an independent learner increases their self-confidence and motivation.
Informal assessments help me determine my students’ primary and secondary learning styles. Once students’ learning styles are determined I demonstrate specific study skills tailored for each student. I encourage potential students and their parents to have a discussion with me before our first tutoring session. It helps me determine whether I would be a good match to work with a prospective student. Hi there, I am Faith, a State Certified School Counselor. Ms. Faith is a very heartwarming tutor. She is patient with my daughter. She has been tutoring my daughter since the summer of 2014 to help strengthen her reading comprehension and writing skill. With Ms. Faith assistance, my daughter was able to improve during 2014-2015 school year. We still have a long road ahead of us, but I know with Ms. Faith guidance, success is in near reach. I highly recommend you hiring Ms. Faith - you will not be disappointed.
My daughter received her 1st progress report from school (pre-report card) and she ranked highly proficient (95-100) in all subjects. I should have looked into getting her a tutor a long time ago.
Best words to describe Ms. Faith, professional, diligent, caring, understanding. My baby girl is struggling with ELA and Faith is patiently working to increase her reading comprehension and writing skills. Faith is consistent and detailed and my daughter feels comfortable with her during the lessons. I highly recommend Faith to anyone in need of tutoring services. Also her hourly rate is very affordable.
My daughter has done her first tutoring session and based on her comments I would say Faith is a warm friendly tutor that I think will get the job done. Accomplished a lot with my daughter in the two hours.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's of Science in Education degree (M.S. Ed) in Guidance and Counseling
from Hunter College of the City University of New York. I have a great deal of experience counseling students in high school and college. I focus on career exploration for high school students. My main concern with parents is helping them avoid accruing large amounts of debt from loans to cover their children's tuition costs. In addition, career development for college students is crucial to preparing them for the world of work.
