Hi!

My name is Natan and I am a math tutor. I graduated with a B.A. in mathematics from Cornell University and I am currently pursuing a PhD in math at the CUNY Graduate Center.

I have been teaching/tutoring

In-person lessons

Nathan is a terrific math tutor. He helped my daughter with Combinatorics (a 400 level Math course at City University of New York, Baruch College). My daughter is a Math major and we had great difficulty finding a tutor who is capable in tutoring Combinatorics, a branch of Discrete Mathematics. We were very fortunate to find Nathan. His excellent tutoring resulted in her achieving an A for her course. He is well prepared and incredibly well versed in the subject. My daughter really enjoyed working with him. They were able to move quickly and thoroughly through the material. I would highly recommend him!

Natan is a great tutor who makes learning fun. He is very patient and his teaching techniques are outstanding. He breaks down the material that can be easily understood.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am qualified to teach/tutor this subject because I am currently teaching this subject as an adjunct at New York College of Technology (City Tech), CUNY.

I am also a PhD student in the mathematics dept at the Graduate Center, CUNY, interested in analysis, which provides the theoretical underpinning for the calculus methods seen in applied diff. equations courses.

Consequently, I feel very comfortable with this material and I believe that I explain this material effectively to anyone who is having trouble with it.

I tutored for a discrete math course at Hunter College, CUNY. The content was basic set theory (venn diagrams, etc.), combinatorics and concepts from probability such as definition of probability (including frequency perspective), computing probability of compound events, probability trees, conditional probability and Bayes rule, disjoint vs independent events, and basic meaning of expectation and expected value. I feel very comfortable with these concepts and can explain them clearly.

I am currently a math PhD student in NYC. Euclidean geometry - that is geometry of lines, angles, polygons and circles - has been one of my favorite areas of math since I was young. I like this subject as it is an area where a student can already see the beauty and intricacy of mathematics.

I am a PhD student in math and have taken linear algebra courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I also tutored linear algebra at Hunter College.
