About Arsenio

Hello. I have been tutoring students for the past 5 years. I graduated high school with my Advanced Regents Diploma. I received a 92 on my Mathematics A Regents and an 85 on my Mathematics B Regents. My high school transcript states my Mathematics "Subject Area Average" from ninth to twelfth grade as 95.33%.

Every student is different. Some students grasp quickly while others might take a little longer to grasp depending on the subject area. No matter the case, you (the student or parent) will never be looked down upon. Remember that I was once in your shoes. Therefore, I can quickly draw back on my previous learning experiences to make you a better student.

Through WyzAnt, I have been fortunate to tutor students of various backgrounds and skill sets in Mathematics. I have tutored students as young as 5 years old to students old enough to be my parents. Past students have described me as a tutor who "breaks down complex math problems and makes it simple (with step by step explanation) that his student's will understand." Check my status and see that my average rating given by my students is 4.8 out of 5. Out of 137 ratings, I have received one hundred fourteen 5 STAR Ratings!

Do not hesitate to contact me. You will not be disappointed!

Thank you. You are very intelligent... One point about your review: The ease doesn't begin once you understand it 100%. Once you begin understanding the work, it just gets easier. Hope you understand what I mean by that... Stay consistent with your effort and we will both continue to see your improvement.

"Very patient and knowledgeable. Easy to work with."

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Inequalities- involve >,<,>=,<=

Factoring- Find GCF and divide each term in the expression by the GCF

Factoring Radicals- the square root of the product is equivalent to the square root of its factors

Order of Operations
PEMDAS (Parenthesis Exponent Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction)

Number Theory
Real Numbers- All numbers from negative infinity to infinity
Rational Numbers- Numbers that can be written as a ratio
Irrational Numbers- Numbers that cannot be written as a ratio.

Shapes
Perimeter of Polygon = Sum of all the sides
Area of parallelogram = Length* Width
Volume of object= Area* Height

Solving an Equation for an unknown, usually 'x'.

Solving a System of Equations
Elimination Method = When adding two equations, get rid of one of the variables while solving for the other. After finding the value of that variable, substitute it in one of the original equations to find the value of the eliminated variable.

Substitution Method- Solve for one variable in terms of the other. Substitute that variable into one of the original equations. Solve for the remaining variable. Substitute that value into one of the original equations to find the value of the other variable.

Setting the Equations Equal to Each Other Method- Solve each equation so they both equal the same thing, i.e 'y' or 'x'. You can now set the equations equal to each other. Follow the method for substitution.

Geometry

Tutoring will cover the following topics of geometry:

Laws Of Transversals
Corresponding Angles are congruent.
Alternate Interior Angles are congruent.
Alternate Exterior Angles are congruent.
Vertical Angles are Congruent.

Shapes
Triangles: The sum of all three angles is 180 degrees. Equilateral Triangles: All 3 sides have same measure. All 3 angles have same measure.
Isosceles Triangles: 2 sides have same measure. 2 corresponding angles have same measure
Scalene Triangles: All 3 sides and all 3 angles have different measures.

Quadrilateral: any object with four sides
Parallelograms: a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides. Has 2 congruent sides
Rhombus: A parallelogram with 4 congruent sides
Rectangle. A parallelogram which forms 4 right angles.
Square: A Rectangle with all sides congruent

Trapezoid: Has one pair of parallel sides.
Isosceles Trapezoid: Has two congruent sides.

Proofs of Congruency
SAS: (Side-Angle-Side); A triangle is congruent to another triangle if they share two congruent sides and a congruent angle.
ASA:(Angle-Side-Angle); A triangle is congruent to another triangle if they share two congruent angles and a congruent side
SSS:(Side-Side-Side); A triangle is congruent to another if they share 3 congruent sids

AAA: Angle-Angle-Angle; A triangle is NOT CONGRUENT but SIMILAR to another triangle if they share 3 congruent angles

CPCTC: (Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent) If two triangles are congruent, then each part of one triangle is congruent to the corresponding part of the other triangle.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the knowledge of triangles.

Basic Concepts;
Sum of Angles of a Triangle= 180 degrees

SOHCAHTOA
Sin= opposite/hypotenuse
Cosine= adjacent/hypotenuse
Tangent= opposite/adjacent

secant= 1/cosine
cosecant= 1/sine
cotangent= 1/tangent

Pythagorean Theorem
a^2+b^2=c^2, where "c" is always the hypotenuse and "a" and "b" can represent either leg.

Unit Circle
(cos?)^2+(sin?)^2=1
1-(sin?)^2=(cos?)^2
1-(cos?)^2=(sin?)^2

great tutor — Arsenio has taught me different ways to solve problems. He also taught me how to do different steps and make math much more easier. We know math will not get easy until you understand it 100 percent. The things I like about him is that he will break down the problem for you step all you have to say is I don't understand and he will reword it,also I like how he tells me different rules for working ...
