You might be an advanced high school student, undergraduate or seminarian trying to figure out big questions about the meaning of some pretty abstract subjects: God, tradition, ethics, and so on. You might be interested in improving your reading and writing skills in preparation for an examination or paper submission. If you're struggling, I can help. Not only have I been there, I've made it my life's work to try and help people get through those questions. I have a master's degree in social studies education from Columbia and I've been a professional, doctorally-trained theologian and church historian for many years. I've taught at Fordham and St. John's University in New York. I've taught thousands of students who are trying to make sense of themselves and the world. I can get you to a place that will help you unlock the answers that are already at the tip of your tongue. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've taught theology and religious studies to undergraduates and graduate students around the United States and West Africa. I don't see theology as a money making venture, but it is a vocation I take seriously. I've authored a new book on Catholic intellectual life in the United States from 1945-1965 and I've recently finished editing an encyclopedia of immigration that will be out in the fall of 2011. My next book will be a biography of an important figure in New York religious life in the 1920s and 1930s.
