Need help with your classes? Want to catch up on what you've already missed during the school year, or even better, get a head start for next school year? If this sounds like you, then I'm your match!
I have 9 years of tutoring experience and truly enjoy providing supplemental support to students. I personally struggled with certain courses as a child, and was always too shy to ask the right questions of my teachers. Thus, I really appreciated having someone work with me, one-on-one, to explain the material in ways that I could grasp. I hope to provide the same experience and success for you.
I have two advanced degrees from Emory University, and have several publications to my name. I have experience tutoring youth from ages 6 to 18, as well as adult learners. I have a wide range of subject comfort, ranging from Reading/Writing/Social Studies, to Arithmetic up to high school algebra as well as test prep. I have also served as a writing coach and editor.
I love working with kids, and strive to create a fun and stress-free learning environment. I like to get to know my students, so that I can make our sessions and assignments relevant and engaging. I am warm, easygoing and quickly able to adapt my style to suit your child's needs - all qualities that former students have appreciated.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I want this to be a great learning experience for all parties involved! Need help with your classes? In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught several study skills course (usually 1-2 hours each) as prep to college and high school students. Also in my one-on-one tutoring, I teach study skills to each of my students, including note-taking, time-management, concentration tips, test-taking skills and memory games. I have also taken adult learners courses and have provided one-on-one instruction for adults who have returned to school (GED and higher educational level).
