Hello.

In 2016, I left a financial services job in the private sector and have journeyed on to a new career as a college professor and tutor.

Due to my education and 25 years experience in financial services, math has always been my strongest subject. It was my favorite subject in school and I have had real-world use throughout my career.

In the past five years, I have tutored third through sixth graders as they prepared for New York State math tests, high school algebra and geometry, and college-level microeconomics. Most recently, I have tutored Algebra I and II, Geometry and college level economics. I am also currently teaching Principles of Microeconomics at three local colleges. I also was an adjunct professor of Economics (Money and Banking) at Concordia College.

During 2013-2016, I was the New York based editor for an international bank, where my primary responsibility was to edit research and strategy reports. My clients were both native and non-native English speakers.

I spent many years training clients, employees and talking to the media. As a result I have a strong training background. Most of it involved teaching clients to use our financial products and computer applications, training my staff and colleagues on our products and the financial markets, and interpreting economic statistics for reporters.

Thank you.

I am currently teaching Principles of Microeconomics at three local colleges. I have recently tutored college student in macroeconomics and high school students in AP economics. In 2013, I taught an Economics class (Money and Banking) at Concordia College as an adjunct professor.

During 2014 and 2015 I tutored a 10 year old boy in fourth grade level mathematics. My academic and professional background were both heavily focused on mathematics and related fields. I have recent experience in both tutoring one-on-one and teaching at the class level.

Algebra 1

In the past five years, I have tutored third and fourth graders as they prepared for New York State math tests, high school algebra and geometry in preparation of regents exams, and college-level microeconomics. I have also been an adjunct professor of Economics at Concordia College. While in graduate school I was an economics teaching assistant.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I currently tutor at least six students in Algebra II. It has been my leading and most successful subject for the 2016-17 school year. It is a complex subject, and I have the ability to successfully explain some of the more complex issues to my students.
Geometry,

Geometry

Over the past two years I tutored about a half dozen students in geometry on a regular basis. It was one of my primary subjects for the 2016-17 school year. The subject matter can get to be very complex, but I have been successful in helping students to understand geometric relationships and their applications to mathematical problems.

Prealgebra

During 2013-2015, I tutored 10th and 11th grade algebra students attending New York state public schools. Prealgebra sets the foundation for algebra coursework and requires much of the same basic fundamentals of mathematics. My professional background has been in financial research and analysis, which also requires a strong mathematics foundation. I have experience in both tutoring one-on-one and teaching at the class level.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Over the past year, most of my students were studying Algebra II (including honors levels) and pre-calculus. I worked with over eight students during the 2016-2017 calendar year. I covered many towns in Westchester county, so I was able to experience different types of teaching and coursework styles, but was able to adopt to all of them. I enjoy this level of mathematics, and have been able to supplement schoolwork with that bit of extra one-on-one tutoring that some students need and react to well.

Maureen is an amazing tutor - A+++++ !

Maureen taught my son Econ 101 from Jan. through April (he was on leave from college) and she did an amazing job in every way. She is highly knowledgeable, prepared, timely, articulate, patient and supportive. She worked hard to make a dry topic as interesting as possible, and she did a wonderful job explaining complex topics in a simple and straightforward manner. Maureen is passionate about her work and her subject matter which is enjoyable to experience. I cannot say enough good things about Maureen and my son feels the same way. We were very fortunate to have found her!

Patient tutor

Maureen is wonderful with my daughter. My daughter is getting A's in Algebra now! My daughter has a better understanding of what she needs to do to solve the problems on hand.

Excellent, patient and skilled tutor

Just because one knows a subject area, does not make everyone a great tutor. Maureen though is a real treasure. She is patient, knows the subject (in this case Algebra I in HS), and was immediately to dive into helping our daughter for an upcoming fine. We plan to utilize her in the future again -- excellent tutor and great to work with.
