Hello! I taught English as a foreign language in South Korea as a certified public school teacher for approximately four years. Additionally, I worked as a teaching assistant at a public university in Minnesota teaching mostly Chinese and South Asian students EAP (English for Academic Purposes). What I love about tutoring, or teaching in general, is that I can make such a difference in my students' lives because the better English they speak, the more options they have outside of the classroom!

As stated above, I have both EFL and ESL teaching experience. That means I taught English in one setting in which English is not spoken outside of the classroom and in the other where it is. This proves that I can be versatile as an instructor. Also, with Korean being my native language, I know what it takes for students to learn English as a second language. This means that I can teach with more passion and empathy. Even now at which point my English is of a native proficiency, I always study foreign languages (including Spanish) so that I can understand what second language English learners have to go through.

I am a trilingual individual who can speak English, Korean, and Spanish. This means that I can switch to the other two languages when there seems to be a communication breakdown during the lessons (although this will be the last resort). My point is, however, that I can relate myself to what you are going through as a second language English learner and customize my teaching to your needs. Feel free to contact me, and I will see you very soon!

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

I have a bachelor's degree in English Language Education from Korea and Master's degree in TESOL from Minnesota. This September, I am starting my Ed.M. program at Columbia University in the same field. I also have taught Korean students EFL in Korea and Chinese/Nepalese/Arab students ESL in the US for over five years in total. My teaching philosophy is helping students communicate with target-language speakers instead of just assisting them in reading and analyzing grammatical rules.
Grammar,

Grammar

I worked as an EFL teacher and ESL instructor in South Korea and Minnesota respectively. While I was teaching, I also obtained my Master's degree in Applied Linguistics. Furthermore, this September, I am starting my Ed.M. Program at Columbia University to expand my knowledge of TESOL and Applied Linguistics. I was chosen as a proof reader for professors when I was working on my Master's because they knew that my grammar was near perfect. Choose me as your grammar guide, and you will not regret!

Korean

As a native Korean speaker, I taught US soldiers stationed in South Korea how to write and speak Korean. Before coming over to the US, I was a certified public school teacher. Naturally, it was necessary for me to speak Korean to my students in order to explain concepts in English in Korean.
