About Linalee

Hey, everyone! I've been in school for six years now and have experienced three majors: Architectural Technology, Liberal Arts and Sciences and, currently, Nursing. Throughout these six years I've learned how to make learning easier for me and apply that to any subject, particularly Math and Science.

I only recently started Nursing (this is my second semester) and it was only during my first semester that I realized, "I can totally teach", as many of my classmates would ask me how I learned everything quickly. Once, I even showed them a dance I made up to in order to remember how to put on protective equipment before entering an isolation room (Student Nurses, you know what I'm saying!), and that made me realize that in order to learn, I had to first realize how I, and my classmates, learned better (visuals work wonders).

So if you're having a hard time learning a particular subject, or just a homework problem, don't be afraid to reach out. And, remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question.

I tutored a student who was guaranteed to get an F last semester (Spring 2016). He approached me with only 1 month left, and earned himself a C. Had he approached me sooner, he might have gotten a B+ or, possibly, an A.

As a Nursing student, I am constantly reminded to think critically and keep in mind how I learn in order to be able to retain information.

Three semesters ago, I took a professor for Anatomy and Physiology who made infographs designed as a visual aid to absorb all of the information thrown at us. He would have us reproduce these infographs by memory at the beginning of every class day and be graded for accuracy. For our final exam, we had to memorize the names of all 206 bones of the body, plus the names of their parts (we had all semester to use the Learning Center to our advantage). Though it was a lot of information to retain, I always got an A on the quizzes and exams, which means an A for both lecture and lab, and I still remember some of the information to this day, as it's required for Nursing.

Contact me as soon as you can! You will not be let down.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Pharmacology

I took a 200-hour Pharmacy Technician training program and, thereafter, took the national certification exam. I have since been a Certified Pharmacy Technician for two years and have worked with two different major companies and made efficiency the main goal in working with both companies through training of newer staff and updating inefficient ways of completing certain tasks to more efficient strategies. I also briefly worked for an independent pharmacy.

Study Skills

As a student, it has always been present in my mind that organizational skills are necessary for time management; and time management is necessary to find time to study and learn how to learn. As a Nursing Student and tutor, it was necessary to encourage students to write on a loose-leaf their daily schedules from Sunday to Saturday, in an effort to have a better picture of their free time. After this exercise, it was evident that each classmate had sufficient time to study at least one chapter. Furthermore, organization of the binders used during class (for some) was addressed and implemented.

Fundamentals — Lina helped me to understand some of the chapters that were not clear to me and she knows the concept. I like that she is very prepared and knows the material. She explained in a way based on facts and data. ...
