About Meagan

I believe the role of an art educator is to create a classroom environment and arts curriculum that fosters creativity through exploration. Art allows children to deeply explore their young but complex emotions. To become more like themselves and less like “everyone else”. To discover new ways to express themselves. After many years of teaching Visual Arts and Spanish, I decided to start my own project.

I have been honored to teach art to countless children at some incredible places including as the Art Educator for The New York Botanical Garden’s “Frida Kahlo” exhibit in 2015 and The Children’s Museum of the Arts “Mexican American Festival”, New York University’s Hispanic Heritage Festival, El Museo del Barrio and others. I have worked as a Teaching Artist at several NYC schools including Central Park East 1, Central Park East 2, PS 183 Robert Louis Stevenson, PS 527 East Side School for Social Action, and PS 84 Lillian Weber. I graduated from Marquette University in 2008 with Bachelor’s in Spanish for the Business Professions, a Minor in Political Science, with an emphasis on Latin American Studies.

I have experience as a Spanish teacher and tutor for children. Emphasis will be on learning practical, conversational Spanish and Latin American cultures.

I am a visual artist and have also have worked as an art educator for years. I offer tailor made lessons to fit needs, interests and personal goals. Flexible scheduling. Contact me to set up a private or small group lesson today!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
