City College of New York (Child Psychology)
Coming from a long family line of educators, professors, and philosophers, it's no secret where my love for teaching comes from. As one with countless accolades and achievements in my educational background, I know the rewards that come from valuing the education of self and the promotion of self. As a current STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) TEACHER for an after-school program at the Richard Green Middle School X289 located in the Bronx, NY, I have wasted no opportunity in helping countless students between both elementary grades and middle school grades improve their test scores in Math, Reading, Science, & History as well as help with homework, provide learning alternatives and build up their confidence to help their ability to retain new information and relay it in their assignments and tests. While doctors save lives and police officers protect them, I truly believe this job of teaching and tutoring truly improves lives and builds the next generation of bright innovators and thinkers that will change the world for the better.
I specialize in both elementary grade math and middle school grade math ranging from basic principles of mathematics to Pre-algebra and can also provide assistance in SAT Math as I have had training from The Princeton Review and assistance in NYS Regents in Algebra. From personal experience, I know how mind-boggling it can be for a student when he/she lacks a clear-cut understanding of information but is expected to retain it. With that taken into account, my lessons are intended to challenge the student, his/her learning abilities, and their confidence to relay new information.
I believe that while my sole responsibility is to improve the learning capabilities and academic standings of the student, I also believe in improving my abilities as an educator and thus I may often ask for feedback both positive and negative so that students I tutor receive the best services I can offer.
My schedule is quite flexible in evening time and although I have a 12 hour cancellation policy, I understand emergencies do happen and I make an effort to offer make up lessons.
I prefer to tutor in quiet comfortable environments where the student is less likely to be distracted, this being in library study rooms but I have no problem traveling to your preferred location if that is more convenient for you as I have my own means of transportation via automobile.
You're doing a job by your child trying to help your student outside of the school setting and I hope to support you in your efforts and help your students with their studies!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
