Fordham University - College at Lincoln Center (Spanish Literature)
Fordham Graduate School of Education (Master's)
Hi there! My name is Inez and I am a NYS Certified Early Childhood Educator currently working as a kindergarten teacher in New York City. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature and a Master's in Early Childhood Education; both of my degrees were completed at Fordham University. As a teacher, I have experience teaching grades Kindergarten through Second and have taught as a Spanish immersion teacher for a second grade dual language program.
I enjoy tutoring as it provides an opportunity to work with a student 1:1, which is not often possible in the classroom on a daily basis. This support and attention helps students tremendously and as an educator, seeing students' growth is one the the most rewarding parts of our job. While I tutor academic subjects, I find that my calm demeanor and sense of humor and fun make all tutoring sessions enjoyable. Whether it's reading something in a funny voice, making a joke, or just making a word problem more fun by adding some pizzazz, I think that this is why I love teaching as much as my students love me. While I am an elementary school teacher, I am knowledgeable in high school algebra, Spanish, and biology.
For tutoring sessions, I am available to travel to your home or a coffee shop or library, wherever works best. I do ask that if you need to cancel a session, please provide at a minimum 4 hours notice. I am flexible and will try to arrange a make up session at a mutually agreed upon time and date. If you have any feedback or requests for where you'd like the tutoring sessions to move towards, I always welcome feedback!
I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you/your child's growth in any way I can! Hi there! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in this subject area as I am a current classroom teacher that teaches Kindergarten, but also has experience working with children up to 6th grade. I am NYS Certified in Early Childhood Education and have experience tutoring students from age 3-6th grade.
I am trained in the Handwriting without Tears Program.
