Hello! My name is Christina. I am a first year medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tufts University. I graduated magna cum laude with a GPA of 3.73. I graduated one semester early in December of 2012 and worked at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School as a clinical research assistant working in the field of translational genomic medicine for one year. During that year, I published a paper in a top medical genetics journal, co-authored various abstracts, and presented a poster at the American Public Health Association conference.
I scored a 2310 on the SATs and a 35 on the MCAT. As a successful test taker, I will share my methods and techniques with you. I have been teaching for a good portion of my adult life. I have one year of experience tutoring students one-on-one in AP Chemistry test prep. My students showed significant improvement in their scores before and after getting tutored. I also have one year of experience as a biology TA for freshmen students at my undergraduate college. I am currently involved with an adult continued education program at Einstein, which entails teaching math lessons to clients at the local homeless shelter.
I am a believer in the benefits of positive feedback and encouragement. I recognize that every student is different and I will adapt my tutoring methods to match your style of learning. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a biology major in college and currently a first year medical student, I have taken multiple genetics courses. I also worked full time for a year in a translational genomics research group, conducting whole genome sequencing studies that required me to be familiar with various concepts in genetics.
