Warsaw Agricultural University (Agricultural Science)
In my teaching career, I have taught English as a second language, at secondary and tertiary institutions of learning in Warsaw, Poland since 1994. I have also tutored students at home, on a one-on-one basis. I hold a PhD in Agricultural Sciences, but I have taught English Composition and Research Writing at the Brookdale Community College, in New Jersey. I am currently an Adjunct Biology Assistant Professor, at the New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) of the City University of New York (CUNY), and I have been teaching introductory Biology to students since 2007.
I am also a Science Adjunct professor, teaching Science and Human Values at the College of New Rochelle, Brooklyn Campus also known as School of New resources (SNR).
I am in a position to reach across the board in teaching various subjects. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an Adjunct Assistant Professor, at the New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) of the City University of New York (CUNY). For seven years and counting, I have been in this capacity teaching Biology and Genetics is one of the areas in the Biology syllabus I have always treated exhaustively.
I am sure I will be in a position to guide students, through both the inheritance patterns typically categorized as Mendelian as well as those considered Beyond Mendelian.
I usually start by introducing both Mendelian and Beyond Mendelian inheritance patterns followed by exhaustive definition of terms in Genetics. The next step is working students through Genetics problems covering single trait, two trait crosses, test crosses as well as those to do with Beyond Mendelian Genetics, such as Sex-Linked genes crosses.
I also usually give them a handout, of practice Genetics problems, which they are expected to try on their own, with a view to self-assessment. I however find time to go over the said handout problems with them, in rounding up.
I studied and lived in Poland from 1988 to 2003. My initial year in Poland was at the University of Lodz, where I had a whole year of Polish Language orientation in courses ranging from Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Civics. I then went to the Warsaw Agricultural University, where I did a research for a complementary Master's degree defending in 1991. I was awarded a scholarship to further studies leading to the award of a PhD in Agricultural Sciences; I defended the said title in 1997. After completing the PhD I taught students at various high schools and Universities in Warsaw, including The Warsaw Agricultural University, The university of Banking and Insurance and the Catholic university in Warsaw.
My fifteen years of Polish experience on the ground in Poland is testimony enough that I can teach Polish; indeed one of my Agronomy Professors once admonished me to apply for a Polish teaching job if given the opportunity.
