Learning is integral to life. As such, I believe that every student should have the opportunity to receive one-on-one tutoring, which may prove to be essential in advancing their life's goals. Often, the traditional classroom setting does not provide an environment conducive for individualized learning. My philosophy stands - through intense, consistent and effective personalized tutoring sessions, every student can be successful in their studies. I have been a tutor for over 9 years, focusing primarily on English and Social Sciences. I have had the opportunity to work along with elementary, middle school, high school, and college students. My experiences, throughout the years, have been life enriching and fulfilling for both me and my students.
In addition, I was a high school English and English Literature teacher for 5 years. While this experience was challenging, I grew to appreciate and respect my students for all the hard work they put into their courses. Here is where I discovered a passion for teaching. I will continue to use this passion to assist students in becoming proficient in subject areas that they may find challenging. Currently, I am a Professional English and Social Sciences Tutor at a college institution. I enjoy helping students construct research papers, complete daily written assignments, understand reading materials, cite, using the most current MLA and APA citation formats, and lastly, reviewing and proof reading their papers. In all, my experience as a teacher and tutor may be just what, YOU, prospective students, are looking for in a WyzAnt Tutor. I cannot wait to meet you and start our tutoring journey together! My son is very selective and doesn't take to people easily. He was very comfortable with Stacy and said it was better to learn from her than attend the sylvan center with their tutors. Stacy arrived early and came fully prepared with a folder with work geared toward his grade level. She knew exactly what he needed to do to improve and she even worked with him emotionally when he got frustrated by encouraging him to talk about what frustrated him about the work. He left smiling and feeling confident. My only issue is trying to work out a regular schedule. Excellent tutor.
I enjoyed working with your son! Thank you for your wonderful words!
Stacy is a great tutor. Patient, understanding and knowledgeable. My son reached his goal.
Thank you so much Stacy!
We started working with Stacy because my daughter needed additional support and readiness for her 4th grade ELA and Math assessments. So far the teachers and I have noticed positive improvements, not only on her math and reading comprehension, but on her confidence as well. We'll continue working with Stacy throughout the rest of the school year to strengthen my daughter's writing, math, and reading skills to prepare a successful 5th grader. Stacy clarifies subjects with real life examples, she empathize with her frustration when she struggles, helps with homework and leave homework for practice. In addition, she is consistently assess on her progress.
Stacy was on time and very patient with my son. She provided him with individual work sheets to assess his reading level. Very professional
Thank you Cara! I enjoyed working with your son!
All I can say is she is the best she really has helped me and the best part is she puts her heart into it.
Thank you Yvonne. It's such a pleasure working with someone as motivated and dedicated as you are. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Stacey is an excellent tutor. In addition to being a very skilled tutor, she was also a very smart as a person. I had a session with her for my assignment which was about Martin Luther King Jr. and his two lectures. She was able to show and explain the same subject from a different point of view which gave me a complete understanding. Other than that, she was very polite, motivating and patient. I would strongly recommend her.
Thank you very much Ozzy! It was a pleasure working with you.
She is always punctual for her lessons. My son says she is a good teacher. She seems to exercise a lot of patience and she knows what she is doing.
Thank you very much. I enjoy working with D!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have recently graduated from the King Graduate Monroe College with an Masters of Science in Criminal Justice, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I learned a great deal from this program and gained deep knowledge and insight from the law enforcement, judicial and political viewpoints of criminology.
Core courses such as Criminological Theory, Ethics in Criminal Justice, Comparative Criminal Justice, Drugs and Alcohol in Criminal Justice, and Terrorism, just to name a few, have equipped me with the skills necessary to work in various Criminal Justice fields, such as, education.
