Who Am I
My name is Jerry M. Jr. I have been a teacher in the Department of Education for ten years. For those ten years, I have also tutored the children of my neighborhood from the youngest to the eldest. My bachelor's degree is from Mercy College and I am working towards a master's degree in education. The reason that I teach is simple, to make sure that inner-city children have the chance to become better than their surroundings. I will explain the previous statement as follows: just because a child was born in the inner-city doesn't mean that he/she will not go to the highest level that they can achieve. Being born in a small town in North Carolina and raised in the South Bronx people expected me to be “less than” the normal. I have never been “less than” anything and I want to always achieve the highest level of excellence.
As a teacher and tutor, I have always challenged my students to be the best at whatever they do in life. My family has always believed in placing education right after religious instruction. This may scare those who are secular, but please understand that it only means that I am very focused on my goal. My goal is to have your child or any child to reach their highest potential. The society that we live in today offers too many excuses and as a teacher that is unacceptable. My educational philosophy is basics based. That means that we will use media other than the internet and social media. I do incorporate technology into my lessons but not at the expense of the basics. A child must learn to have a love of literature and the classics before he/she can go on the internet and research them.
I am willing to work with any family as long as they are willing to work with me in insuring their child the best education in the world. Who Am I

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have served as a Sunday school teacher for four years. In my undergraduate years, I have taken such courses as "Bible As Literature" and "Women In The Bible". My methods of teaching students the Bible is to first, have them learn all of the names of the books of Old Testament and New Testament, then teach them some of the major stories in each of them.
