About Jenna

As an Anthropology and English major, I love communicating and interacting with others, especially if it means I get to help them. I realize that studying doesn't always come easy, and it helps to have a little extra help. My job is not to teach, but rather to help the student learn by learning with them. I tutor by asking questions, creating study methods, and assisting with the independent research necessary for answering a question. Of course, I answer questions when necessary, but the goal of the tutor should be to help the student come to conclusions on their own, not to hand them the answer.
I have been tutoring for over a year now and love my job. To see students come to an understanding with the material and watching their progress is one of the most rewarding things out there. As I mentioned before, it is not my goal to string them through their courses, but rather to be there as a helping hand when they need it. Seeing the students succeed is a beautiful thing because it shows all of the hard work they have put in.

Anthropology is my passion. I have had intro courses to linguistic, sociocultural, and archaeological anthropology. My career goals are more focused on archaeology, but I have a background in three of the four subfields, so I have a wide array of knowledge pertaining to the subject. Because I am so passionate about the subject, I have noticed the passion in my previous students also grow.

Reading and writing are two of my favorite things and I think they are beyond important for everyone to be good at. These two skills are hard to come by nowadays, and being able to communicate both verbally and through written word is an important skill set when searching for jobs in the future. I have a strong love for editing and currently edit an anthropology research journal, so I can assist with proofreading and paper writing.

If you need any help with any sort of writing assignment, English problem (grammar, reading comprehension, etc), or anything in the anthropological field, I would be elated to be the person you come to. Contact me for lesson scheduling and I cannot wait to help you succeed!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I am currently majoring in anthropology and have taken at least an intro course in three of the four subdivisions. I have been tutoring for over a year now and have covered subjects such as social anthropology, forensic anthropology, and archaeology. I am beyond passionate about this topic and believe it comes through during my tutor sessions, which helps the students learn.
