Long Island University (Psychology Music)
Thank you for viewing my profile. I offer guitar and bass lessons for all ages/levels/styles. This includes electric or acoustic guitar lessons. Beginners are absolutely welcome! I teach in a relaxing, professional style that produces results. My students' success is my main concern.
Each of my students gets a solid musical foundation, which includes instruction in the areas of relaxation and technique, ear training, music theory, rhythm and timing, note reading and melody. I also focus on teaching students music that's fun to play and that is consistent with the specific style of music that they're interested in, which can range from rock, metal, jazz, blues, folk or country to even classical music. In addition, I specialize in acoustic fingerstyle guitar.
More advanced students can concentrate on particular areas of their playing (i.e. rock or jazz soloing, fingerstyle techniques, composition, chord theory, etc). I treat each student as an individual and progress is made at a pace they each is comfortable with.
I've been performing and teaching as a full time professional for close to 30 years, in the process, guiding thousands of successful students to their musical goals. Many of my former students are now amateur or professional musicians and teachers. Others have gone on to music schools such as Boston Conservatory and Berklee School of Music. Several have performed at major venues such as Carnegie Hall and The Grand Olde Opry. And, many simply just enjoy sitting and strumming a tune on their back porch.
Additionally, I teach studio/computer music production for students who have a computer, recording device or home studio and I can be employed as a consultant for studio owners who are looking for help with maintaining, setting up or purchasing gear or learning new programs and production techniques. I am also a music producer and offer recording and production services for any type of musical project (i.e. band and artist demos, albums, commercials, movie soundtracks or personnal use recordings).
I have many references available. And one last note, I do teach half hour lessons in addition to the standard hour lesson. Thank you.

I also offer a 30min lesson for $40. An additional travel charge to a student's home can sometimes apply, depending on the location.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BA in Psychology/Music from Southampton College of Long Island University, class of '81, where I studied classical guitar. Over the next ten tears, I studied jazz guitar under several well respected teachers-Joe Monk, Sonny Dallas, Rich Rabitan and Donny Saginario. I recently completed workshop study with world-famous acoustic guitarists Alex De Grassi and Tommy Emmanuel. I have been performing and teaching guitar as a full-time occupation for 32 years. I've taught thousands of students in music schools and music stores, and privately. I now have a current roster of over 40 private students. I've performed with artists such as Paul Simon, The Drifters and Eddie Money. I've also played on countless club date gigs as a band member and solo artist. Two years ago, I competed in the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, where I placed 10th.
I have a BA in Psychology/Music from Southampton College of Long Island University. I've worked as a full-time musician and music teacher for 32 years. During that time, I've also worked as an audio technician/sound man/recording engineer, and I've produced numerous recording for clients, ranging from album work to commercials to sound design. I currently operate a commercial studio and complete several projects a month. I also produce my own albums, of which I have several, and I freelance as an audio consultant for local recording studios. I'm experienced in Pro Tools, Cubase and Logic, and currently have several audio production students that I teach each week.
