Having always been drawn to opportunities that help others learn and make a significant difference in the quality of their lives, it is neither a surprise nor an accident that I am a teacher. I have been a GED/TASC instructor for almost ten years, teaching basic and academic skills in all five subjects of the exam, including test taking strategies and study skills. My experience includes teaching English and social studies at a middle school, test preparation at a prominent learning center, and teaching adult education classes.
The GED was replaced by the TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion). Subject material, scoring, administering of tests, and cost are all affected. I have successfully helped many individuals achieve their goal of attaining a high school credential. My success rate was nearly double that of the national average.
But I am more than a GED teacher. The importance of reading comprehension, possession of a clear and strong understanding of math, the ability to speak and write well, cannot be overly emphasized. Time spent learning is never, ever wasted. Education holds the key to success. I would like to have the opportunity to assist in that success, your success. JoAnn is an amazing tutor she is extremely patient and will go above and beyond to make you understand. She has a great personality plus she is so funny and so smart at the same time! I would highly recommend her to anyone.
JoAnn did a great job working with my son to help him pass the new New York State TASC Test. She helped us in several of the subjects and was also a wonderful resource about the whole process involving this new text. She is very patient and truly cares about the success of her students.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As an experienced SAT and GED instructor and a mother of two, I realize it's important to be able to understand and explain the basics of elementary math in order to continue to learn and understand more complicated mathematics. Many of us suffer with math anxiety. This anxiety can be lessened with patience, understanding the problem, and having the confidence to be able to find a solution to the problem. I can help your child. I'm not able to promise he or she will love the subject, but I can help your child to do better in math.
I have been a GED instructor for the past six years with a successful completion rate that surpasses the national average. I have taught all five subjects and am familiar with the material, scoring, and test-taking strategies needed to pass this difficult exam.
It is important to be able to speak and write well. Understanding the rules of grammar helps you to do this. Grammar is not a boring, outdated section of English class, at least it shouldn't be. I have been a middle school English teacher and can help you with this subject.
