SUNY Geneseo (BS Biology)
Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine (Enrolled)
As a student at SUNY Geneseo I graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's of science in biology. I took the MCAT and received a score of 40 (14PS-14VR-12B), which placed me in approximately the 99.75 percentile of all test takers. I took the test July 27th 2013. I have been accepted to medical school and am matriculating in August, though I currently tutor full time. I am excited at the idea of helping other students to overcome the stressful burden of the MCAT. I would be happy to help students to select materials and map out an independent study plan. I truly believe that anyone who has successfully completed the required coursework for application to medical school is capable of doing very well on the MCAT.
I tutor high school and elementary school students in all subjects but particularly in science and math. I have extensive experience tutoring students ranging from 6th grade to graduate level, and a strong foundation in math, biology, chemistry, and physics at the undergrad level. I understand that every student is different and that strategies must be adjusted accordingly. I engage my students in an active learning style which favors asking them questions so that they piece together their understanding of new material from prior knowledge. I do not simply explain material while my students nod their heads. It is important to relate material to examples from everyday life. I strive for my students to learn the meaning of the material at hand, rather than memorizing the steps to doing a problem.
Aside from the MCAT I also tutor for other admissions tests (ACT, SAT (scored 1400), ASVAB (scored 99), where I believe a strong emphasis on foundational skills and test taking strategy can help a student to maximize their abilities and fulfill their potential. As a student at SUNY Geneseo I graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's of science in biology. I took the MCAT and received a score of 40 (14PS-14VR-12B), which placed me in
Will happily answer questions via phone and e-mail in between sessions.
Again - Christopher to the rescue! My son was out with the flu for a week and went back to school and found out he had two Chem Honors tests in two days and felt he was not ready and would do badly. Christopher got back to me right away and came for a tutoring session. My son received a 100% on one test and a 103% on the other. Thank you Christopher - you're an amazing tutor!
Chris showed up on a Sunday helped my senior get through a very difficult AP chemistry test. His knowledge of the topic is obvious and relates the information well.
Chris was an excellent tutor for MCAT physics. He brought my scores up from 6's and 7's to an 11! He was very down to earth and explained difficult concepts very well. I highly recommend using his services.
We've only taken one lesson so far, but I like what I see. Christopher it's very patient, knowledgeable and professional. I'm looking forward to setting up more tutoring sessions and improved grades.
Christopher is a great tutor who challenges my daughter in math (algebra2/trigonometry)and in physics. From her first session she has found her math classes in school and homework much easier to understand. I appreciate how he questions her and she feels comfortable enough around him to ask him questions. I appreciate that he knows math and science and can also assist her with SAT questions.
Christopher was extremely resourceful and patient with my daughter in her preparation for the Hunter College examine. His sessions were structured and well thought out. His scheduling was flexible and appointments were punctual. I would definitely use him again or would highly recommend him.
Great tutor, always on time and most importantly reviews all material thoroughly and is patient. Asks a lot of questions to make sure my son understands the lesson before moving on. Grades have been improving! Thanks Chris.
This is my 4th class with Chris and he is an amazing tutor! Very patient, but the best. Knows the subject! Definitely I will recommend him as a tutor.
Chris has been terrific and a great match to help my son prepare for the Math section of the ACT. His organized and calm approach quickly recognized my son's areas of weakness and has helped him with the content, and the approach, to those math problems. Chris will go the extra mile for my son - and he is responding. Prompt and professional, I could not be happier with the work Chris has done with our son.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated cum laude from SUNY Geneseo with a bachelors of science in Biology. I recently scored in the 99.7% on the Medical College Admissions Test, which includes both biological and physical sciences.
I took both Chemistry and Physics as a science major at SUNY Geneseo (3.6gpa) and recently scored in the 99% on the Medical College Admissions test physical science section, which includes both topics.
I hold my Bachelor of Science in biology from SUNY Geneseo where I graduated cum laude with a 3.55 gpa. I studied on my own for the MCAT and scored a 40 (99.7-99.8 percentile), for which I am willing to produce the score report.
I received my bachelor's of science in biology from SUNY Geneseo. My degree included required coursework in physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I scored in the 99th percentile on the MCAT physical sciences section, which demonstrates my competency to tutor in this subject.
I took Physics as a science major at SUNY Geneseo (3.6 GPA) and recently scored in the 99% on the Medical College Admissions test physical science section which covers all of undergrad Physics I and II. I was required to learn and understand the material to the extent that I could not succeed by simply moving variables around. I think that it is very important that my students learn to understand the meaning of the material, and I am confident in my ability to help them do so.
