About Susan

I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in Anthropology. I have worked as an IT consultant for many years before now working toward my NYS certification in TESOL (K-12). I have taught corporate groups, undergraduate college classes and individuals. College classes that I have taught have ranged from Cobol, SQL, Anthropology, Linguistics, South American Cultures, Witchcraft and Religion. I have tutored individuals and small groups of elementary school students (K- 5) in reading and math.
I enjoy helping people learn and succeed. My favorite part is watching the "light bulb" go on when a concept or idea is finally understood. That is my goal in all my teaching. To help others learn and to learn how to learn even more.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
