My name is Mary. I have an MS in Education. I have taught in elementary, middle and high school. I have ten years' experience teaching. During this time I tutored my students one-on-one as needed. I tutored students in the following regents exams: chemistry; integrated algebra; biology; geometry; and earth science. They were all very successful. My daughter struggled with math before she started working with Mary. Her grades went from C's to A's on her last two tests.
I like Mary as my tutor very much. I think Mary is a wonderful tutor and she is very patient with me. We usually do past math state tests and she helps me with my homework if I don't understand it. Thank you, Mary.
I am very pleased with my tutor Mary B. I would like to use her to tutor my oldest daughter too. She is always on time and very soft spoken to my daughter. She has a lot to offer. I really like Mary B. she is very polite and caring and my daughter is doing very well.
I am presently tutoring a student with Aspergers syndrome. I have been working with this student for two tear as a WyzAnt tutor. It is very satisfying. I had to figure out the rules the student worked by, because they are important to him.
I didn't try to change his behavior, unless it was unacceptable. I find it is important not to get the student upset as he can become very anxious. He has very few strategies for dealing with anxiety. The more anxious the student becomes the more withdrawn he is lightly to get and will not process the content.
It can take time to set up the study-space. This can be helped by asking the student what makes them feel comfortable.
I feel it requires compassion, understanding, communication, patience and passion for teaching.
I have a masters in Education. I have been a Substitute teacher in Elementary schools from 2009-2013 on Port Washing School District in New York. I have tutored elementary students for WyzAnt and Academic Advantage.
I tutored students as part of the No Child Left Behind Program in elementary math. This involved pre-testing the student, choosing educational goals based on the test, planning lessons and teaching the students for three months to meet these educational goals, and administrating a post-test to students.
I presently tutor those who are preparing for the NYS tests.
