My name is Mr. P. I have actually spent a great deal of my life in the military and construction trades, however I have always had an affinity for math and, as such, am now in the process of finalizing my degree and certification to teach Math in New York. I have only to fulfill my student-teaching to finalize the process. I have an Arizona State Department of Safety Level One Federal Fingerprint Card on file with the U.S. Department of Education, am willing at any time to allow anyone to subject me to a background check, and as a matter of fact have a satisfactory one on file with WyzAnt as of 11-13-12.
I fully intend to be teaching what I love to teach and learn--Math--within the next year in New York State. I can teach any level from pre-alegebra, to algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. Although math is my first love, I am also well versed and able to tutor in English grammar, writing and composition as well as Spanish.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Tutoring in this subject area will consist of somewhat more advanced practice and study of the algebraic method to include factoring polynomials, equations and solutions in one or two variables, functions and their graphs and solutions, zeros and the quadratic formula, exponential, logarithmic and functions and applications, some elementary trigonometric applications (if needed), and word problems and their solution methods.
Tutoring in Algebra 2 will consist of identifying and building on challenges and strengths from previous math courses, advanced applications of algebra to include inequalities and systems of inequalities, linear systems using matrices, complex numbers, and trigonometric/conic section applications (as needed), and sequences, series and probabilities (again, as needed).
Any tutoring I do in this area will cover the necessary basics of algebraic methods, an understanding of the terms involved, practical applications and regular quizzing and practice. Please feel free to inquire if this is the type of tutoring you need. It will be very helpful to anyone about to enter their first course in algebra for high school or college.
Tutoring in this subject will consist of all phases of the SAT testing process for math, including secondary level courses in algebra, trigonometry and geometry, as well as test-taking practices that conform to the SAT format. Emphasis will be on time management, problem solving skills, word problem practices, and preparation enhancement.
Tutoring in this subject will consist of elementary Spanish language practice (years 1 through 3), grammar, sentence construction, verb conjugation, tenses, spelling, colloquial and idiomatic writing and verbalization (if practice in conversation is warranted and possible).
Tutoring in this subject will consist of practice in the use of grammar and punctuation, essay writing in various styles as required by the student, spelling, composition, and creative writing. The precise areas of greatest attention will be determined on a student-by-student basis and as necessary for each individual. This can be helpful to secondary and post-secondary students.
