Welcome! My name is Andrew, and I am an elementary school teacher from Central New York. I first fell in love with teaching 12 years ago when I became an instructor at a martial arts studio. Since then, my love of teaching and of working with children has only continued to grow. I have tutored both math and ELA in the past, and have taught across all subject areas in my time as a teacher. I consider my teaching style to be highly engaging while also being student focused, and I strive to develop a strong sense of confidence in my students in order to help them succeed both in and out of their academic lives. I love seeing my students believe in their true abilities as confidence is such a key motivator in life.
I have a very unique math background, as I was originally an engineering student before becoming a professional educator. I have taken classes as advanced as multi-dimensional calculus while also having a range of experience with elementary math programs such as My Math, Glencoe Math, Singapore Math and Everyday Math
Having completed my degree in English Teaching at the University of New Hampshire, I am an avid reader and truly enjoy teaching the various skills and strategies involved in both the writing and reading process. I strive to use authentic and engaging practices in order to help students succeed, while instilling a natural passion for ELA.
Having been an elementary school teacher, I have current experience in what students are learning in their classrooms. I know the curriculum and am able to deliver specific and targeted instruction accordingly.
I believe that my strong connections with my students have empowered them to do more than they ever thought possible. Similarly, my use of modern and research based teaching methods has allowed my students to remain engaged long after we have parted ways.
While I tend to meet with students and tutor at public libraries in the Syracuse area, I am currently quite flexible with time. Please feel free to contact me to learn more about my teaching background and to make an appointment. Welcome! My name is Andrew, and I am an elementary school teacher from Central New York. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Being a current and certified elementary school teacher, I have used the Common Core curriculum to direct my instruction for the past two years. It has been a part of my daily planning from start to finish, and I have used various programs to teach the many layers in encompasses.
I am currently an elementary school teacher in Liverpool NY with two years of experience in 6th grade, and one year of experience in 2nd grade. I am certified in both the states of NY and NH and have completed my Master's Degree within the last three years.
