I am full time, tenured college professor who will help you excel in any physics or math course from high school to the college level. I have an undergraduate in physics (Cum Laude, Cornell University) and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Science and Engineering (MIT). I have been teaching physics for more than a decade and have many years of experience tutoring and mentoring students at all ages, including middle school, high school, and college. During my time as a student at university, I found that the thing keeping me interested and wanting to learn about science or mathematics was its application to the world around me and what I saw. I found that I was able to remember topics and concepts by their application to specific problems. This has deeply influenced how I teach and work with students. I love teaching and I am here to help !

The method I find most effective for generating interest is to give tangible examples from our daily lives: industry, medicine, recent news, and/or research. One of my goals in teaching mathematics, which is often boring for kids (like algebra or geometry), is to make connections to the world around us and to what a student might see daily. When teaching subjects like physics, I draw connections to real world applications.

Though I have been teaching physics in a university setting, I often meet with students individually to work on problems they encounter on homework, exams, and laboratory exercises. Prior to my university teaching experience, I have also tutored students on a one-on-one basis and in small groups. When students come to me with a problem in physics, I try to emphasize not only the method for which the student should solve the particular problem in question, but their ability to understand and apply a general concept. Understanding the general concepts from which any problem can be solved is the ultimate goal that students need to be able to master. One other aspect of my ability to teach physics draws on the emphasis of making physical sense of a result. As an example, w

Excellent and in-depth analysis

Mr. Gregory B. always explains difficult concepts to me in a way that helps me grasp and retain the knowledge.

Very Knowledgeable and Accessible

Gregory has been a huge help as I prepare for my finals in physics and reviewing topics in general over the course of the class. The level of clarity in his lessons, the thought he puts into each session, and the fact that he is very readily available have all been instrumental in succeeding in this course.

Thoughtful tutor

He was amazing at working though problem with me, and carefully teaching me not only how to solve the problem but skills needed to solve other physics problems in my unit!

Very Helpful

Gregory was super helpful in breaking down the concepts for the questions we went over. Definitely knew what he was talking about.

Siya, 1 lesson with Gregory

Knowledgeable and clear

He helped clear up confusing concepts. Answered questions in detail. I was able to think about problems I did on my own a lot clearly and easier after working with him.

Detail oriented and easy to work with tutor

My son has been taking lessons with Greg on AP Physics C. Greg is a very patient and approachable instructor who explains each problem step by step in a methodical way. He also provides good problem resources for my son to go over in order to prepare for not only school exams but also competitions like F=MA. Overall, my son is very happy to be able to work with Greg and feels more confident to ace the Physics course in school and elsewhere.

Great AP Calculus BC tutor

Gregory taught Calculus and was patient, clear, and helpful. He provided detailed feedback on a recently completed exam, identified trouble spots and provided helpful suggestions for moving forward.

Dana, 4 lessons with Gregory

Tutor is extremely knowledgeable, very clear at explaining, and patient.

Gregory had helped me get caught up in my class, he taught the lesson clear as day, and he taught me systems to develop a strong base for physics. Extremely helpful.

Sonia, 17 lessons with Gregory

Patient, kind, understanding

Gregory was very helpful at breaking down and explaining how to use the kinematic equations for 2 dimensional motion. He helped me understand the problems at hand by drawing a picture to help better visualize the concepts. He supplemented the lesson by providing practice problems during the lesson that covered exactly what I need. Furthermore, he even provided practice problems after the lesson in order to give me more practice with the subject matter. He was very patient and didn’t make me feel bad if I didn’t grasp a concept right away. I look forward to taking lessons from him again!
