About Mohammed

I not only love to teach, but I also love to motivate. I want students to understand that everything they do has a reason, whether it's for their education or life. The best things in life don't come in the easiest ways; we have to work really hard to attain it. And it starts with our education. Whether you're taking notes in class, or reading a book on your own, there are many ways to gain knowledge.

I want to make sure people reach their maximum potential because ultimately, I want everyone to succeed in their own terms. I have been tutoring for 1 year, and it's been a great experience. I always motivate students to continue putting in their best effort. What I love about tutoring is when students finally understand a concept and smile; it shows me that they learned something. Students would come to me puzzled and frustrated; after 2-3 hours they leave motivated and knowledgeable. I believe success is only attained through the transfer of knowledge from one to another.

Math is literally solving a puzzle; there's a question presented to you, and so you have to use whatever resources you have (brain, formulas, calculator) to solve it. I started to teach people in math when I myself was a sophomore in highschool; I was in a program known as Peer tutoring, and I would tutor students my age or younger in areas such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and even precalculus. Ever since I've had an interest in teaching people whatever I know in math. I like to help students think about math problems in several different perspectives; there's more than one way to approach a math problem. I like to bring that out of students.

Public speaking is truly an art; when one has a passion about a particular topic he/she can go on talking without any fear. It's all about tone, volume, eye contact, passion for topic spoken, and of course, confidence. That really is the key to public speaking. But of course, practice makes perfect. I first gained my experience as a public speaker when I was a cofounder of a startup; we had to go to investors for funding. From there, I learned how to approach not only a massive audience, but also individuals.

In general I sometimes will assign homework just to see if the student understand the content. If anything I would require the student to go over the topic and study it from time to time.

My rate is $40/hour. For availability, contact me; I can adjust my schedule for YOU. I look forward to hearing from you guys !

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Geometry

I received a 99 on the geometry regents exam when I was a freshman at Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics High School back in 2011. In addition, as a sophomore in high school, I would tutor students of my age in geometry, as well as other math subjects.
