Salve Regina University (English Literature)
C.W. Post center, L.I.U.. (Graduate Coursework)
I am currently enrolled in Long Island University's Master's Program for English. I have been tutoring students of all ages and writing levels for the past eight years and thoroughly enjoy creating a fun yet productive tutoring environment for all of my students. I managed the Writing Center while attending Salve Regina University during my Undergraduate years. Upon graduating I took some time off in order to travel and experience different industries in order to be certain that I do, in fact, want to work as a Professor at a university after attaining my doctorate in English. Upon returning to academia last year, I began tutoring the students of LIU, both Undergraduate and Graduate levels, as well as tutoring high school students all over Long Island and Queens.
What I love most about tutoring is being able to connect with each individual student and use many different techniques in order to not only add clarity to a student's work but, moreover, create a fun atmosphere where my students learn all aspects of writing without realizing that they are in fact becoming more adequate writers throughout the process. In many cases, I have helped students achieve A's on most of their writing assignments and have never not had a student leave a session feeling as if they had not learned anything. Furthermore, LIU's student body does contain many ESL students and I have been able to adequately help them learn the English language along with the subtle nuances many ESL students have difficulty understanding.
I pride myself on my ability to make people feel comfortable in a generally uncomfortable environment as I do understand many students feel vulnerable and anxious with another person reading their work. Thus, if you are looking for a tutor that has years of experience, as well as a proven methodology for students of all backgrounds and writing levels, I sincerely believe I would be the best choice.
I have devoted years of my life studying all aspects of the English language, whether it pertains to reading comprehension, writing, or syntax, I have no doubt that I can help a student achieve his/her's true potential in grasping such a language. Currently, aside from tutoring and schooling, I am in the process of publishing a book of poetry, short fiction, photography, and many other aspects of art. My creativity, however, does not stop simply with my own work; rather, I have dedicated countless hours learning and adapting different methods of tutoring with an adaptable and creative approach that has yet to fail myself or my students.
Feel free to contact me through this website in order to set up a session or simply just to speak about what problems you are having in regards to your schooling. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
