I understand a parents concern to develop their child's potential. I do substitute teaching in the public school districts of Cuba, Genesee Valley Central, and Belfast NY. Besides academic subjects for 3-8th grades (working classroom and one-on-one tutoring). I also teach beginner-advance intermediate piano. I am mature in age-young at heart; and I ENJOY teaching! It is important that a child has an enjoyable, interesting learning experience. I get to know my students and their concerns and interests. I am willing to travel (with mileage compensation) to Angelica, Wellsville, Nunda, Olean, Houghton, Fillmore, Arcade, Springville, Allegany; into areas in Pennsylvania, such as Genesee, Ulysses, Coudersport, Westfield. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a substitute teacher for K-6 for four years, mostly grades 3-6, at Cuba Rushford, Belfast, and Genesee Valley Central Schools. All subjects are covered, and I especially like reading, history, geography. While I am not totally familar with the newer math techniques in grades 5-6, I have been able to help students in that subject also.
