“**Eager to help students learn**”

Hello,

Having been a mathematics tutor for three semesters at Fulton Montgomery Community College, there have been enough opportunities to help students learn what they need to, to know the approach I take in tutoring is tested. Any student I will instruct may rest assured I will also feel the moment of inspiration with them, when

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

My understanding is the ACT is less demanding than the SAT though I am qualified for high school mathematics curricula in general. Both through the sites examination procedure and extensive outside experience. I have helped a growing number of students over the years. Mathematics asks for commitment!

I have dealt on an independent basis in recreational and private research of certain geometric constructions among other topics in math, I am "well-versed" in analytic proofs. The foundations are concrete in my mind and simple to relate in kind. Tutoring at the local college for a year and a half and private jobs brings experience to offer any prospective students.

Many students have walked into the mathlab at the college where I have tutored getting ready for calculus. There are ways to immerse a student in a kind of strategy that will unlock their potential in overcoming the maze mathematics can seem to be. Having found the short cuts and the end of the labyrinth I am merely here to guide the student on their own way through. It really comes down to understanding of theory and application with repetition that I will instill. Lessons have gone well in the past.

Having scored a 720 on the SAT Math, I know what to expect. Study guides for the test helped as it presented questions not found in our state mathematics regents curriculum at the time, even as an honors math student it was not covered in my High School. I will take measures to see my students not fall in those types of traps I have detected in my own past. I will use the resources of this site as an advantage well. You may even start to think of it as a "math app!" Knowing how to get this grade from personal experience will help with instructing future students to emulate sound methods and approaches in mathematical reasoning.

At a time when many in my Accelerated Mathematics class in high school either failed or had to retake the Math B, I scored comfortably in the B range after there was a statewide overhaul of the mathematics curriculum, from Courses I,II, and III in Integrated Mathematics from McGraw Hill's 3 part series running prior. I never was satisfied and went through with a "magnifying lens" material covering both curricula, attaining rare familiarity in breadth of truly extracurricular mathematical knowledge. This B in trig I made up for with A's in Calculus I and II, which use it in more complex ways than before. There were private struggles behind that sophomore years' performance too, so know I am always with any student "rooting for the underdog!" And yes, to be a "Top Dog."
