I recently graduated cum laude from Siena College with a B.A. in mathematics. I am a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, a national mathematics honor society. My future plans are to pursue a master’s degree in data science. I have a wealth of tutoring experience. I’ve tutored students in middle school through college age. I’ve tutored algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and statistics. I worked with at-risk, middle school and high school students at Poughkeepsie Children's Home as a volunteer tutor while I attended Dutchess Community College. I was a private tutor for a student entering her junior year at Poughkeepsie Day School who needed help preparing for the Algebra 1 Regents Exam. I also worked extensively with college students at both Dutchess Community College and Siena College tutoring all levels of calculus and algebra. In addition, I helped a graduate student prepare for a statistics exam.
I love to help students understand math, especially those who have been struggling for a long time. I believe that my passion for all things math rubs off on those I help. My philosophy is that everyone can learn math, but different approaches are necessary depending on the student. Some students are more visual and need to see diagrams or visual representations, some need lots of repetition, and some need to see similar patterns as they attempt more difficult problems. The tutor needs to get to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses in order to provide the necessary help.
I am qualified to tutor the following subjects: algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry, calculus (I - IV), and statistics. I'm willing to prepare students for cumulative exams, upcoming courses, and difficult assignments. I enjoy helping students improve confidence and overall competence in the subject matter. There is no need to fear math. You can do it!
I will be moving October 1st and will be available to tutor by then.
