Siena College (Biology)
I would like to complete my PhD in biological sciences and pursue a future career in teaching at the undergraduate level in the Albany area. I have tutoring experience in Computer Science from Siena College that gave me an introduction to explaining complicated topics to students in a clear, concise and understandable manner.
Following that position, I taught an English as a Second Language to underprivileged children in the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. During this time, I developed a variety lesson plans and executed these plans in both English and Spanish. These lesson plans allowed me to develop my organizational skills and critically think about the simplest method to deliver pertinent information to the students in a language that is not familiar to them. The remainder of my work experience has taught me how to properly time manage, follow through on assigned tasks and adapt to the needs and requirements of each position.
I have taken both high school and undergraduate level math classes including, Algebra, Geometry, Discrete, Calculus 1 and Calculus 2.
I am a graduating biology major from Siena College and I have taken a range of biology courses at the high school and undergraduate level including AP Biology, General Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Phylogenetics, Psychology, Comparative Anatomy, Animal Physiology and more.
I am generally available to tutor from 9 am to 9 pm and I can travel to students or meet them online. My base rate is $35/hour for an in person lesson and $30/hour for an online lesson.
I look forward to hearing from you! I would like to complete my PhD in biological sciences and pursue a future career in teaching at the undergraduate level in the Albany area. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
