Families whose children I've tutored ask for me when their child needs a tutor again! My experience includes being a school principal and also a classroom teacher and both a GED and school tutor to hundreds of students! As a classroom teacher I had my own daughter in my classroom from grade 7 through 12 and then took her enroll at the college of her choice!
I am regularly called upon to tutor students from grade one through 12.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned the Bachelor of Theology and Bachelor of Religious Education degrees at London Bible Institute and Theological Seminary as well as the Master of Religious Education at Grand Rapids Baptist College. Throughout my ministry I have been a pastor in both Canada and United States. I have taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes. Each of these have been Bible-centered ministries.
I love to help young students blossom and grow in their basic academics. I have tutored dozens of students for the local school district each year for the past ten years. It has been my special honor to have parents request me to be assigned when their child was unable to be in school and needed a tutor. Recommendations available if desired.
It has been my delight to teach phonetic reading as a certified ACSI teacher. Attention to letter sounds and familiarity with spelling rules improves a student's reading skills. I would be happy to work with your student to improve his/her phonics skills.
I am the benefactor of having been in Bible Club release time programs from grades 2 through 12 as well as being a camper or worker in their camps for 13 years. My first role as a Sunday School teacher was with primaries at age 16. I have bachelors degrees in Theology and Religious Education as well as a Masters degree in Religious Education. I have been a principal and/or teacher in Christian Schools as well as being a pastor who attended church and Sunday School from the age of five weeks!
My study skills are evident in that I completed two bachelor's degrees simultaneously: a Bachelor of Religious Education and a Bachelor of Theology. I earned a Master of Religious Education at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. I served as founding principal of Kirkfield Park Christian Academy (Winnipeg, Manitoba)as well as teaching in the junior high and high school and, later in two other schools. I have been a pastor since 1960 - thus studied for at least three sermons per week -- even now! Over the years I have accumulated a library of over 2,000 books. In short, my life has been made up of continuous study!
Inasmuch as I am a successful studying pastor and teacher, a classroom teacher as well as tutor, and former GED teacher of several hundred successful GED students, I undoubtedly am a student with successful study skills!
Essay writing was a part of my classroom subject matter while I taught from 1985-1993. I am a certified GED instructor, although for the past 5 years have not been teaching GED. Rather I tutor students (usually junior high and high school) who cannot be in school. Especially, their assignments in English and Social Studies have included essays, so I have given plenty of one-on-one instruction in essay writing.
