I'm Charlotte! I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2016 with a Bachelor's in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Biology. While I've been tutoring friends since high school, I started working in the Math Center at UNR in the summer of 2016 until I graduated in December. Following this, I became a part-time instructor at TMCC at the beginning of 2017 where I taught Math 95 and 96 (Elementary and Intermediate Algebra) for 2.5 years. During this time, I was also working at Mathnasium, where I gained a lot of experience working with students from elementary up to high school. In the Fall of 2019, I started working toward my Master's in Applied Mathematics, during which I've been working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant teaching my own Math 95 and 96 classes.
Tutoring has always been one of my passions! I love being able to work with students and see the moment when something clicks for them. I find that being able to explain a topic in many ways until the student understands it is very important. I understand that not all students learn in the same way, so I incorporate this into my tutoring. Repetition is key to the learning process.
My experience teaching Algebra 1 is quite extensive as I've worked with a lot of both middle and high school Algebra students while working at Mathnasium, as well as students taking the course in college. While working at Mathnasium, I primarily worked with middle and high school students after my first 6 months there, so I have plenty of experience with Prealgebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2, as well as preparing students for the math portion of the SAT.
