I'm Charlotte! I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 2016 with a Bachelor's in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Biology. While I've been tutoring friends since high school, I started working in the Math Center at UNR in the summer of 2016 until I graduated in December. Following this, I became a part-time instructor at TMCC at the beginning of 2017 where I taught Math 95 and 96 (Elementary and Intermediate Algebra) for 2.5 years. During this time, I was also working at Mathnasium, where I gained a lot of experience working with students from elementary up to high school. In the Fall of 2019, I started working toward my Master's in Applied Mathematics, during which I've been working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant teaching my own Math 95 and 96 classes.

Tutoring has always been one of my passions! I love being able to work with students and see the moment when something clicks for them. I find that being able to explain a topic in many ways until the student understands it is very important. I understand that not all students learn in the same way, so I incorporate this into my tutoring. Repetition is key to the learning process.

My experience teaching Algebra 1 is quite extensive as I've worked with a lot of both middle and high school Algebra students while working at Mathnasium, as well as students taking the course in college. While working at Mathnasium, I primarily worked with middle and high school students after my first 6 months there, so I have plenty of experience with Prealgebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2, as well as preparing students for the math portion of the SAT.

Feel free to contact me for more information or to schedule a lesson. I look forward to hearing from you!

Algebra 1

I have worked as an Algebra instructor for 3 years now. I taught both Math 95 and 96 (Beginner and Intermediate Algebra) at TMCC and UNR. I also worked at Mathnasium as a tutor, during which I worked with a lot of middle and high school students working through Algebra 1.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

While working as a tutor at the Math Center, I worked with several students in college-level Algebra 2 courses. I obtained my most extensive experience with Algebra 2 at Mathnasium. During the 2.5 years that I worked there, I tutored many high school students struggling through Algebra 2, as well as many other math courses.
Geometry,

Geometry

In the beginning of 2017, I worked as a tutor for a private tutoring company where I worked with several students struggling in their Geometry courses. I also got much more extensive experience working with Geometry at Mathnasium for 2.5 years. I had the opportunity to master many tools and techniques to help students understand Geometry, instead of just memorizing formulas. I find that these tools help Geometry students succeed!
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

While working at Mathnasium, I worked with many middle school students who were struggling with Prealgebra. As well as my work there, I also taught Math 95 (Elementary Algebra) at both TMCC and UNR, so I have extensive experience with both tutoring as well as teaching Prealgebra!
SAT Math

SAT Math

SAT Math incorporates topics from Prealgebra up to Trigonometry and requires good test taking skills, and so my experience working with middle and high school students at Mathnasium has trained me well to prepare students for the math portion of the SAT. I also worked with several students who came to Mathnasium specifically to prepare for the SAT, so I have plenty of knowledge about the types of questions and how to approach them!

Very Helpful!

I am in My math lab. And some of the math was hard to do because I would get part of the work and then mess up and the whole problem. I could not figure out why. With Charlottes help, I saw where I went wrong and was able to correct it. Thank you, Charlotte!
