As you may have already seen, my name is Maria. I'm a 24 year old college student who would love to share the knowledge that I have acquired during the 5 years that I've spent in college, with other students that wish to learn. I currently possess a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and one in French as well with a minor certification in Cultural Anthropology. My futures plans are to pursue a Master's degree in French and possibly do Anthropological research, and eventually attend law school to become a criminal law attorney specialized in crimes against minorities.
I don't have much experience working as an official tutor; however, during my years in school I spent many hours helping friends on a daily basis. I have tutored some family members and close friends's kids, who have attributed their improvement in school performance thanks to the hours that I worked with them. This, to me, is the most gratifying aspect about being a tutor, the appreciation and value that the people I help give to the knowledge that I share with them. I have also worked with high school students struggling in subjects like algebra, biology and writing. This has been in a more informal manner, but the students I helped also claimed improvement after helping them. More recently, I worked as a volunteer English tutor in a private elementary school in Lyon, France. I worked with 11 year old kids along with their teacher, and I was responsible for preparing one lesson a week and develop it during an hour period. I worked with these kids for an entire semester, and it was one of the best experiences of my semester as a student abroad.
I have a Bachelor's degree in French. I studied my last semester of French in Lyon, France and obtained accreditation from Universite Lumiere 2. Living in a French city helped me to learn idiomatic and cultural aspects about the language.
I am a Native Spanish speaker. I passed AP Spanish and Literature in high school with the highest score, 5.
Please contact me, I have very flexible hours. For the next few months I'll be completely available throughout the week and also weekends (with the exception of Mondays). In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
