I am a naturally passionate learner and mentor. My favorite thing about tutoring is the "aha" moment, the moment of pure clarity is what I strive for in tutoring, and I am willing to take any measures to make that happen. Through tutoring, I hope to see the student become excited about learning. My goal is to make them fall in love with the subject they are struggling with. Nowadays, a lot of school is focused on earning a specific grade, or aiming for straight A's. While these things are important, I believe that learning has more value than numbers or grades. I am an advocate of education and falling in love with the messy process of learning, because struggles oftentimes lead to success. I believe that our value extends far beyond a grade.
Growing up, I struggled greatly with math; but through my struggles I learned to love it. I am ready to adjust to any student's academic needs.
I took AP Physics and AP Calculus in high school, struggling greatly with both of them but learning immensely. Although I never fell in love with physics, I learned to love calculus. I can help with pre-algebra, algebra, pre calculus and calculus. I can also help elementary schoolers with reading and writing comprehension. I can work with the student through their homework problems and I can also provide practice problems.
I've been playing violin for eight years and my passion has grown immensely. In high school, I was Concert Master for my orchestra and I have mentored students in violin at an after-school program. I have played alongside the Tahoe Symphony and I am currently playing with the UNR Orchestra.
