About Scott

I am a Mechanical Engineer by study and a Controls Engineer by trade. I graduated 2 years ago from BYU-Idaho with a 3.95 GPA. Last year, I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering test on my first attempt. I am married and have two kids, a 3 year old and 6 month old.

I currently use AutoCAD extensively in my current position. I have 2+ years of drafting experience. I have trained multiple employees in AutoCAD. I have a solid foundation of solid modeling experience using SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and AutoDesk Inventor while in college. I also have extensive knowledge in Microsoft VBA programming.

My past experience as a tutor is primarily with college age students. In college, I was a tutor and teacher’s aid in multiple math and engineering courses. As a Calculus teacher’s aid for the college, I helped students with homework and understanding concepts. As a Statics teacher’s aid, I helped individuals understand homework problems and prepare for tests. For other engineering courses, my tutoring was peer tutoring one-on-on. However, I was a huge proponent of study groups and helped groups of engineering students as well. I enjoy math, engineering, and computers. I received A's in every math class I took in junior high, High school and College.

I believe that good study skills are essential to success. I love to teach good study habits, different study skills and help people succeed in learning. I love seeing the light bulb come on when a person finally understands a concept and the accomplishment they feel. I believe that so much of success in math is time and work. I, too, had to receive tutoring in college. Whether you are behind, need help staying with the class, or want to get ahead, I would love to help.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Great Tutor Experience

We found that we had a challenge with an assignment in Solidworks on a Saturday night. We needed to get some expert help and we checked with the tutors. We asked a couple of tutors to help and Scott was able to help at a moments notice. He was able to get online and provide help with the assignment. We really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend Scott for other students.
