About Taylor

There is nothing I love more, than learning and teaching. I graduated from the University of Nevada Reno, with a bachelors degree in neuroscience and biochemistry. I have had the pleasure of tutoring many different students of all ages and have had great success.

During my undergraduate career, I worked as a teaching assistant for an intermediate biology class and lab. I was also elected academic chair for my sorority for multiple semesters. I created programs and incentives to encourage academic achievement by organizing weekly study hours, tutoring programs, educational workshops, recognition and positive reinforcement, and ensuring accountability and responsibility. While maintaining favorable atmospheres for encouraging and inspiring members to achieve academic excellence. All of which I have transitioned into my teaching abilities. My experiences teaching and learning my self have allowed me to develop various teaching techniques and approaches for students of all types.

I specialize in science of all forms, as it is my passion. As well as psychology, sociology, and math. I have personal experience studying for and taking the MCAT exam. I have tons of studying tips, mnemonics and advice as well as organizational skills. My goal is to encourage positive attitudes toward learning and motivate academic success. I hope to challenge my students without overwhelming them. I am approachable and easy to communicate with, to ensure proper and effective teaching and learning between my self and my students.

Science is my passion. I am currently applying to medical school, where I plan to become a trauma surgeon. I have taken just about every science class possible, with success. To list a few; organic chemistry, general chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, neuroscience, infectious disease, microbial pathogenesis, immunology, microbiology, animal physiology, cognitive psychology and more.

I worked as an undergraduate research assistant for 3 years studying scientific causes of pre-term labor and therapeutic targets in breast cancer. I have worked for 3 years as a medical scribe in an ER and pain management. I have also taken multiple, extensive courses on the MCAT.

I am generally available for tutoring Thursday-Sunday from 8am to 10pm and Monday-Wednesday anytime after 5pm. I can travel to students or meet online. My base rate is $50/hour. Please contact me with any questions you might have! I look forward to working with you, to reach academic excellence!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Genetics

I received over a 100% in my genetics class while in undergrad. I was also offered a teaching assistant job, however I did not have the time available to commit. I have tutored multiple friends, students, classmates and my current roommate in genetics. I also studied genetics extensively for the MCAT exam this past summer.

Organic Chemistry

I have taken organic chemistry I and II as well as organic chemistry lab, which I received A's and one B+. I have also worked for three years in an undergraduate research assistant. My lab focused on pre-term labor and breast cancer. I performed and perfected an array of lab techniques and experiments.

Study Skills

I have been on the deans list in undergraduate, and honors high school diploma. I have spent almost all of my undergraduate career studying and living in the library. I have studied extensively for the MCAT, the old and new test and have explored many study techniques, skills and more. If there is one thing I am a 100% confident in, it is my effective study skills.
