About Soo

I have an Undergraduate degree in Engineering and 2 Masters degrees in the subjects of Electrical Engineering and Statistics from Stanford University and Yale University respectively. I believe the most salient part to being a great tutor is patience and understanding. There is no subject too difficult to grasp if explained clearly and well in an understanding manner. That was my most important takeaway of my stint as a Teaching Assistant and Student at both Stanford and Yale. It requires hard work and teamwork from both tutor and student.

I was a Teaching Assistant for 2 classes in Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations at Yale University and a Grader for numerous other Math, Stats and EE classes at both Yale and Stanford. If you need help with the GRE, I can help you too. My scores for the GRE are Verbal Score of 165 (95th Percentile), Quantitative Score of 170 (97th Percentile). and Analytical Writing Score of 5.0 (93rd Percentile) under the New System and Verbal Score of 680, Quantitative Score of 800 and Analytical Score of 800 under the Old System.

We are part of a team together and together we can succeed through hard work and mutual cooperation. I can explain subject matters, especially in Mathematics, Statistics, Probability and Engineering to make them clear and simple. Together, as a team, we will prevail. Whatever the goals are, we will discuss and set them together and I have full confidence that it will be accomplished through determination, dedication and hard work.

I am flexible with scheduling. Please don't hesitate to contact me and we can work out our goals together and a plan to accomplish them. If you are having trouble or anxiety with any subject matter, I am sure I can help to alleviate the ambiguities by making the subject matter much more accessible. We can always meet up first to have an initial discussion on what we need to work on together and on the scheduling of lesson plans.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Professional, Effective and To the Point

I hired Soo to help my 14-year-old son with Formal Geometry, specifically Proofs. My son was having trouble comprehending the material and didn't feel like his school teacher was explaining it well enough. Before their tutoring session, my son felt his comprehension of the subject was a 3 on a scale of 1-10; after his time with Soo, he feels it's at an 8 or 9. He really enjoyed Soo's teaching styl
