About Leonard

I am a multifaceted diverse tutor. I have studied many subjects and have had the chance to adapt to different subjects to find the best ways of studying them. For instance, in Chemistry I have had experience tutoring at the college level. I have answered thousands of questions in General Chemistry while teaching college chemistry. I have had time to develop the smartest and most efficient way to solve problems in Chemistry. I know how Chemists think. I have tested my techniques by taking the SAT Chemistry test and scored 800. I have also scored the highest in the civil service exam in Chemistry. I am also a Mathematician. I have received an A in every course I took in Mathematics or Computer Science (programming). In graduate school I had a 4.0 in Computer Science. Other students either in my class or outside my class have frequently come to me to see how I studied the many courses I took, how I prepared for exams, and how I did programming in a variety of languages such as C++, Java, etc. I have also worked as SAT tutor for the Princeton Review. I know the techniques that the Princeton Review teaches students to adopt to score the highest on their SATs. I apply the same or similar techniques in all subjects I teach. My focus is always to achieve the highest score, to answer questions with the least effort, and to achieve confidence that my students will obtain the highest scores no matter how difficult it appears to them. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I am qualified to teach in Calculus because I majored in Math at NYU. I studied Calculus I, II, and III including Advanced Calculus. I have taught Calculus privately, coaching students on how to approach problems by getting them to do numerous problems in their textbook.

Electrical Engineering

I am an Electronic Engineer with a Master in Science in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. I have had numerous experience using Electrical Engineering as IT Professional in numerous jobs and as Electronic Technician in my present job. I have taught topics in Electrical Engineering privately with students where I demonstrated to them how they can solve problems and score high grades on exams.

Organic Chemistry

I am a PhD Chemist who has taken at least 30 credits in Organic Chemistry and Advanced Organic Chemistry. I have also had courses in Organi Lab. Moreover, I have had experience using Organic Chemistry in a laboratory environment. I have also taught Organic Chemistry topics at TMCC where I had the chance to interact with students having problems learning Organic Chemistry for the first time.
